For the past 3 years, a community of academic and industry scientists, ethicists, lawyers, educators, citizen scientists, artists, policymakers, technologists has been gathering to establish an open international project with the objective of reducing the cost of engineering and testing large genomes. The goals of this project, dubbed Genome Project write (or GP-write), will be achieved through the participation of an international consortium, with 15 countries represented so far.
Founding members of the GP-write consortium have been busy creating charters and developing roadmaps and some of us in Canada have been active participants in this process. However, for Canada to make a significant contribution to the GP-write project, the Canadian Genomics and synthetic biology community needs to identify its capacities and establish its priorities.
With that purpose in mind, you are cordially invited to attend a workshop to be held in Montreal August13-14, 2018. The workshop will run as a satellite meeting to the 18th International Biotechnology Symposium and Exhibition. Attendance to the GP-write workshop is free but you are encouraged to register and attend the IBS2018 meeting as well.
